1964 Willys Jeep Gladiator<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Willy\u2019s Jeep Gladiator, or J-series, is a full-size pickup truck based on the large Jeep SJ (Wagoneer) platform. Built and sold 1962 to 1988, the Gladiator is noteworthy for remaining in production for more than 26 years on basically an unchanged platform. The Gladiator was the basis of the first post-war U.S. Army truck, redesigned to serve civilian or military use.<\/p>\n

This particular example is an early Gladiator with the extremely rare short bed, better known by Jeep enthusiasts as a “Thrift-side” (step side) bed. Approximately 90% of all sold had the full-width \u2018fleet-side\u2019 bed. The rarity is further enhanced by being powered by the 230ci overhead valve inline 6 with four-wheel drive and having the early small rear window cabin.<\/p>\n

This was originally a AAA Auto Club service vehicle with special heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, and the AAA company logos are still recognisable on the doors. It spent its life in the California high desert and the body is “dry as a bone” – probably the most solid old Jeep truck you will ever find. A great truck to restore or keep the patina and drive as is. Prior to parking the vehicle ran perfectly, but it will require a service and battery. It\u2019s sold with California plates and valid title; a great truck and very rare!<\/p>\n
