2007 Honda Z50 40th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversay Monkey<\/strong><\/p>\n

The world\u2019s best known and most easily recognised minibike is the Honda Z50 Monkey. Honda’s official model designations are typically Z50A, Z50J, Z50M, Z50R, and ZB50, but to the world they are simply the “Monkey” or “Gorilla”, and both named after comments relating to how people looked when seen riding Honda\u2019s first model in 1967, the Z50M.<\/p>\n

Legend has it the Monkey as a model occurred almost by accident, after Honda was commissioned by the Tama Tech amusement Park to create a small production of children\u2019s minibikes. The result was a very basic box-like frame fitted with proportionally large chunky tyres, a 50cc engine and no front or rear suspension. Following the amazing popularity of the Tama Tech bikes, Honda realised a possible new production model, and as they say, rest is history.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the model\u2019s popularity, every decade Honda produced an anniversary model, and in 2007 they produced a stunning black & tartan theme that harked back to the original model. This was also the first model to be reintroduced into Australia by Honda Australia and as the years have passed the 40th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary has grown in popularity and demand, surpassing the value of many newer models.<\/p>\n

This 40th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary is located in Sydney and has only 44k\u2019s on the clock. As the pics present, it is showroom original and been part of an indoor Z50 collection. It retains the original owner\u2019s handbook & spare keys.<\/p>\n
