1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR1000 Caf\u00e9 Racer SOLD 2021

Debuted to the world during the 1977 Daytona Bike Week festival, the XLCR1000 was a factory-built Cafe Racer. The result of a personal, and somewhat secretive, design project by Willie G Davidson, who at the time was head designer of the AMF-owned Harley Davidson, it was like nothing Harley fans had seen before. Enthusiastically received, the XLCR sported an elongated angular tank, bikini fairing, cast alloy wheels, twin front discs with unique Kelsey-Hayes callipers.<\/p>\n

The 1000cc Sportster engine was mounted in an XR frame with a performance Siamese cross over two-into-two exhaust, and suspension designed and built by Showa Japan. The XLCR was produced in limited numbers for one season only. With an approximate production of 3200 bikes, the XLCR100 is a very rare Harley and a highly sought-after piece of the Milwaukee company\u2019s rich history.<\/p>\n

With only 226 miles use, this XLCR is one of the most original examples in existence. The only other known similar low mile example resides in Harley-Davidson\u2019s Milwaukee Museum. This bike has been part of an extensive private collection in Australia and is now being offered for sale. In preparation for selling the bike has undergone a full service, including all new fluids, tune and new battery. Included with the bike are the original owner\u2019s manual, workshop manual and parts catalogue, plus a selection of original decals.<\/p>\n

Harley enthusiasts will not find another XLCR in this original condition anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n
