While Ducati\u2019s 500, 600, and 650 Pantah\u2019s were aimed at the export market, the factory also produced a 350 variant specifically for the Italian market to take advantage of a reduced tax threshold for motorcycles below 350cc. The 350XL was one of Ducati\u2019s parts-bin specialities, basically a 500 SL with a 600 TL handlebar fairing and higher handlebars, and SL instruments, instrument panel, and rear-set foot-pegs.<\/p>\n

The 350 engine was downsized from the 500 SL, with smaller valves (33.5mm inlet and 30.5mm exhaust). The Dell\u2019Orto carburetors were also smaller (30mm), and there were new camshafts to produce more usable power down low. The XL\u2019s five-speed gearbox and wet cable-operated clutch was identical to the later 500 SL, while Silentium exhausts were fitted in oem spec.<\/p>\n

Despite the diminutive engine, the XL still produced a healthy 40hp at 9,600 rpm and was capable of around 170 km\/h. The 350 XL chassis was also very similar to the 500 SL, with gold FPS wheels, Paioli suspension, and small 05-series Brembo front brake calipers.<\/p>\n

The 350 XL offered here is in excellent original condition, only 12,500 genuine k\u2019s, and has been fitted with the larger 500+ fairing. Paintwork and chrome plating are in excellent condition, the bike is fitted with period correct 2-1 Conti exhaust, new tyres, brakes battery and full service.
