During the extravagant 80\u2019s Jap manufacturers ruled the biking world, both in sales and in being adventurous. The 80\u2019s also saw Japan usher in turbo-charging for 2 and 4 wheels, and in the two-wheel selection Kawasaki\u2019s GPz750 was the largest, fastest of all and was the only factory-released turbo capable of a 10 second quarter mile pass.<\/p>\n

The GPz 750 Turbo was not only faster than all its forced-induction peers, but thanks to 112HP it was also the fastest street bike tested in 1984. Turbo\u2019s work best with short primary pipes, so unlike its competition, the GPz\u2019s Hitachi blower sat forward of the engine and nice and low, helping to reduce turbo lag and maximise output. The GPz\u2019s power delivery was sharp & rapid, making it exciting to ride but somewhat unpredictable when twisting the grip out of tight corners. Lighting up the rear tyre was available on command, but things became a bit easier with the second edition when Kawasaki joined Yamaha to introduce fuel-injection in a bid to improve engine control operations while helping rideability and engine life.<\/p>\n

This particular GPz is a located in Qld (Australia) and is presented in lovely original condition. Unlike many surviving examples, this retains its original exhaust which is free of corrosion.<\/p>\n
