During the 1980s Honda produced a 750cc endurance race bike known as the NR750. The bike was a development of the NR500 Grand Prix bike which featured oval pistons, a concept that allowed eight valves per cylinder to generate more power due an increase in the engines air\/fuel mixture intake and compression. In 1992 Honda produced approximately 300 street versions of the NR (better known today as NR750) using a 90-degree V angle engine featuring similar, but different, oval piston as used in the GP version. Whereas the NR500 used an oval piston with straight sides, the road going NR750 used an elliptical piston with curved long sides, both equally significant in engineering accomplishment; the NR750 is often referred to as the greatest example of corporate muscle flexing!\u00a0\u00a0 The NR was the most expensive production bike at the time, selling for around $50,000 USD, and with their rarity they seldom change hands today for much under 70-75,000 USD.<\/p>\n
This particular example is showroom new; it was received by a notable collector and has never been registered or ridden. As photos show it has all of the original handbooks, both keys, factory stand and most importantly, a full compilation of the factory workshop tools including the oval piston ring compressor, and all the electronic interface cables to adjust and monitor the NR\u2019s extensive electronics.<\/p>\n
